Most people are familiar with TheRide's fixed-route service – buses traveling regular routes at scheduled times. TheRide operates fixed-routes within the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti Area which includes nearby Pittsfield, Scio, and Superior Townships.

Fares & Passes

TheRide accepts payment in the form of cash, tokens, and passes. Discounted passes are available for youth, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and income eligible residents.

TheRide also partners with local employers and academic institutions to offer sponsored passes for people working and studying in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti area. These passes give qualified individuals full or partial access to use our fixed-route bus system.

Fixed Route Fares table for Seniors

*A reduced fare card is required to receive discounted rates. Seniors without a reduced fare card will pay the regular adult fare to ride.

Half-Fare 1-Day Pass: Seniors must show a valid Fare Deal Card with their Half-Fare 1-Day pass when boarding.

Single Ride (60-64): Seniors aged 60-64 must have a valid Fare Deal Card to receive the discounted single ride rate. 

Single Ride (65+): Seniors 65+ must have a valid Fare Deal Card or GoldRide I.D. to ride fixed-route for free. 

30 Day Value Pass: Seniors must show a valid Fare Deal Card with their 30 Day Value Pass when boarding.

Half-Fare 1-Day Pass: Youth in grades K-12 must show a valid student I.D. with their Half-Fare Day Pass when boarding.

Single Ride: Youth in grades K-12 must have a valid student I.D. to receive the discounted single ride rate.

30 Day Value Pass: Youth in grades K-12 must show a valid student I.D. with their 30 Day Value Pass when boarding.

Service Delays & Disruptions

Service delays and route detours can occur for a number of reasons including construction projects, community events, traffic congestion, and poor weather conditions.

TheRide posts detours, delays, and disruptions that impact service on our Alerts Page. We suggest signing up for MyAlerts to make sure you never miss a route update. The MyAlerts notification system sends service alerts related to your favorite routes directly to your email. 

You can also call 734-996-0400 to check for service alerts on your route. 

Accessibility

We're committed to providing all riders with safe, convenient, and comfortable service. Our fixed-route buses and stations have accessibility features that make traveling easier for everyone.

Ramps & Kneeling Features

All fixed-route buses are low-floor vehicles equipped with ramps and kneeling features that make it easier to board.

Onboard Announcements

Buses announce major locations along the route so you will always know where you are. Visual displays also tell you the name of the route you are on and where you are headed. RideGuides and other travel material are translated and available in alternative formats if you need them.

Request Alternative Formatted Material

Bus Driver Assistance

Please let the bus driver know if you need assistance. They can help you board the bus by pushing your wheelchair up the ramp or providing stand-by assistance. The driver will also make sure your wheelchair or other mobility aid is properly secured or stowed before traveling.
