New Contactless Fare Payment Using Mobile Apps, Masks Required
ANN ARBOR, MI – University of Michigan kicks off their football season at home on Saturday, September 4 against Western Michigan University and the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority’s (TheRide) football shuttle can get you there! It’s convenient, accessible and only $1.50 each way. New this year, FootballRide has transitioned to contactless mobile ticketing. Masks are required by federal law when using public transit.
The football shuttle service will operate between many convenient hotel and parking sites and Michigan Stadium for seven home football games this fall. Additional hotels will also be served indirectly at nearby pick-up sites. Hotel parking may be limited to hotel patrons and may have a fee to park. Hotel and shuttle boarding location information can be found by visiting MyFootballRide.org.
Shuttles will drop off near Gate 2 next to Crisler Arena. After the game, the boarding locations for the West and Downtown shuttles will board on Stadium Blvd between Gates 2 & 4. The North, East and South shuttles will board on Stadium Blvd east of Gate 2, adjacent to Crisler Arena between Stadium Way and Kipke Drive.
Contactless payment for FootballRide Tickets is preferred. Football shuttle tickets are $1.50 each way and are available through mobile ticketing on the following apps:
When purchasing a ticket through one of the above apps, choose “TheRide Fixed Route Single Ride.” If riders are unable to purchase a mobile ticket, cash payment is accepted, exact change is required as drivers do not carry change. Free and reduced Disability, Senior and Youth fares available for those who are eligible. MCard, go!Pass and TheRide’s 30-day passes are not accepted on FootballRide.
During University of Michigan home football games, the following routes will be detoured while streets are closed to through traffic: Routes 6, 24, 25, 26, 28, 64. For information on detours in effect during the games, visit TheRide.org or call (734) 996-0400. On game days, the AirRide schedule will be adjusted, visit MichiganFlyer.com for updated schedules.
Sign up for TheRide’s MyAlerts system to receive up to date information on service information including detours. The MyAlerts system lets you specify which route(s) to receive information.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19, TheRide continues to enforce the established preventive measures to keep both riders and drivers safe:
- Customers are required to wear a face covering, per federal law.
- The driver is to be approached for emergencies only.
Buses are cleaned with CDC-recommended protocols. - Plastic barriers are added to separate drivers and riders.
- Sanitation supplies are provided to employees.
- Masks, gloves and face shields are provided for drivers’ use.
- Lost and Found collection has been temporarily suspended.
