Help us ensure that all riders travel safely and comfortably. Please show common courtesy and follow these general rules when using TheRide.

Code of Conduct for TheRide's Buses and Facilities

  • No weapons of any kind.
  • No Smoking or vaping.
  • No loitering, panhandling, or solicitation.
  • No skateboarding or bike riding.
  • Refrain from disruptive behavior or using profanity.
  • Possession of open alcoholic beverages or illegal substances is prohibited. We report all drug activity to the police immediately.
  • Appropriate clothing, shirts and shoes must be worn.
  • Keep the volume low when listening to your music with headphones.

Rider Courtesy

In addition to the above Code of Conduct, please remember:

  • No eating or drinking while riding the bus or waiting in bus shelters.
  • Keep conversation volume levels respectful.
  • Personal items can be kept on your lap or at your feet. Remember to take your personal items with you when you exit the bus. AAATA is not responsible for any lost items.
  • Service animals and pets are welcome to ride on the bus for free. Pets must travel in a well-secured cage or travel container. Please keep service animals controlled at all times.

Service Animals Policy

TheRide is committed to providing safe and accessible transportation services to all individuals, including those with disabilities who rely on service animals. Read the ADA Service Animals on AAATA Property – Policy.

Designated Seating

  • Use the designated area if you are traveling with a child in a stroller. If the designated area is being used, fold the stroller and keep it clear of the aisle. Wheelchair securement locations may not be used for strollers.
  • Priority seating for seniors and persons with disabilities is located near the front of the bus. The driver will ask other riders to vacate these designated seats if necessary.

Other

  • Personal Care Attendants (PCAs) must board and exit the bus with the eligible A-Ride card holder in order to ride free. Abuse of this can result in the loss of PCA eligibility.
  • Possession of any hazardous material or items is not allowed on the bus (e.g. gas containers, car batteries, etc.).

Bicycles

TheRide’s buses can accommodate up to two bicycles. When loading your bike, use the available rack position closest to the bus. Remove all loose items not attached to your bike and take them with you onto the bus. Bicycles that cannot be accepted on the bus include: recumbent, motorized or tandem bikes, bikes that are high enough to obstruct the view of the bus operator, or tires that will not fit into the rack. If the rack is full, you will have to wait for the next bus with available space.
