AATA advises advance trip planning due to spring-summer road construction

ANN ARBOR, MI – Local road construction is expected to affect a dozen Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) bus routes during the spring-summer season. AATA is advising passengers to plan their trips in advance and allow extra time for traveling on the affected routes.

Four routes will be detoured around construction projects:

Route 1 – Pontiac-Dhu Varren
On the northbound portion of the trips, buses will be detoured from Broadway onto Moore, Traver and John A. Woods, then return to Pontiac Trail, to avoid construction on Pontiac Trail between John A. Woods and the railroad tracks.
Expected duration: August 1-October 14

Route 1U – Pontiac University
On the northbound portion of the trips, buses will be detoured from Maiden Lane onto Moore, Traver and John A. Woods, then return to Pontiac Trail, to avoid construction on Pontiac Trail between John A. Woods and the railroad tracks.
Expected duration: August 1-October 14

Route 3 – Huron River
Trips going to Ypsilanti will detour off Huron River Drive onto Oakwood and Washtenaw to avoid construction on Lowell between Huron River Drive and Forest in Ypsilanti, which will be closed to through traffic.
Expected duration: April 30-August 15

Route 15 – Scio Church-West Stadium
Buses will detour from southbound Seventh onto Pauline, Hutchins and Stadium before returning to Seventh to avoid construction on Seventh between Pauline and Stadium.
Expected duration: May 14-July 18

Bus passengers may expect delays on the above routes and also on the following routes where two-way traffic is expected to be maintained:

Route 1 – Pontiac-Dhu Varren
Construction: Traver Boulevard from Teubingen to 600 feet east Two-way traffic is expected to be operated on one side of the median.
Expected duration: August 15-September 15

Route 5 – Packard
Construction: Platt from Packard to I-94 Bus stops may be consolidated in the affected area. Expected duration: June 1-August 30 Construction: Packard from Stadium to Anderson Bus stops may be consolidated in the affected area.
Expected duration: June 18-August 24

Routes 7 – South Main-East, 8 - Pauline, 15 – Scio Church-West Stadium and 16 – Ann Arbor-Saline Road
Construction: South Main from Packard to William Bus stops in the area may be taken out of service.
Expected duration: May 1-31

Routes 7 – South Main-East, 12A – Miller-Liberty, 12B – Liberty-Miller and 13 - Newport
Construction: North Fourth Avenue from Ann to Catherine.
Expected duration: June 1-30

Route 14 – Geddes-East Stadium
Although two-way traffic is expected to be maintained, AATA may detour the route onto Arlington to avoid construction on Overridge between Arlington and Sheridan.
Expected duration: July 1-August 15

Route 20 – Ypsilanti: Grove-Ecorse
Construction: Ecorse Road from Ford Boulevard to Michigan Avenue Bus stops may be consolidated in the affected area.
Expected duration: April-June 30
